Most Americans support Marxist solutions to national problems

Posted by Guest Blogger on Sunday, 27 February 2005 15:17.

I am against interventions in other nation’s political affairs, just as I am against them meddling in ours.  I am opposed to exporting communitarian political systems, just as I am opposed to importing them into the U.S. If every political party supports rebuilding the world with communitarian wars and laws, and if every non-governmental organization supports it, and if the TV and papers tell us it’s all good (and no one else is complaining), then, what’s my problem?

Matt Nuenke, Vulpes and the motivations of the left

Posted by Guessedworker on Wednesday, 23 February 2005 23:01.

These thoughts are a brief response to Matt’s post “Animal Rights, Humanism, and Universal Altruism”.  The latter was quite beautiful to read for anyone who has loved a dog – or any “higher” (ie, social?) animal.  Dogs in my case, twice … plus I was brother to my daughter’s tragically deceased lop-eared rabbit.  Not a close family relationship I can claim to have anticipated, but life is full of surprises.

But to take the issue forward …

Right now at Westminster and in the English countryside we are witnessing the submission of those ties of humankind (to which the left is usually so anxious to accede) to an apparent compassion for an indefatigable and, from a human perspective, non-social competitor for food resources: the fox.

The side tourists never see

Posted by Guessedworker on Monday, 21 February 2005 16:28.

While mooching around the net for images of lovely Cumbernauld, the Scottish town that is so ill-favoured the population want it all knocked down, I came across this touching portrayal:-

Having only a weak grasp of reality and a brief attention span I quickly lost interest in the freezing north.  I was charmed instead by these wry and gentle images of the real, perennially failing but perennially plucky, urban England shot by the same opportunistic, amateur camaraman.

Oh bloody hell!

Posted by Guessedworker on Monday, 21 February 2005 13:50.

I’m only doing a copy & paste job on this one.  No thinking employed.  Can’t bear to think about those poor lads who love the Navy and the sea and our country, and who have watched the shit-hearted PeeCee people fuck with it all for their sick ends.

The Royal Navy is to place advertisements for recruits in the Pink Paper as part of a new campaign to recruit homosexual sailors.

The move follows its decision to sign up to the Diversity Champions programme run by the equal rights charity Stonewall, the first time a branch of the armed forces has done so.

Commander Tim Kingsbury, the Royal Navy’s diversity and equality policy officer, said the scheme would initially involve providing commanding naval officers with the necessary information to best understand and support homosexual staff.

He said Navy top brass still “needed to understand better the needs of one group of personnel and to encourage them that they are part of the mainstream”.

“Commanding officers have a key role to play in creating a culture in which gay and lesbian personnel feel confident that they work without being harassed or bullied because of their orientation,” Commander Kingsbury said.

Homosexuality

Derbyshire considers the causes of homosexuality in his recent piece for NRO.

I’ve got an interview with Greg Cochran on the subject up on my blog.

Does he mean us?

One unforeseen and rather special consequence of starting this blog has been my re-acquaintance with the kindness of strangers.  Of course, one knows perfectly well that goodwill and understanding are key to all in-group thinking.  The least visible in-groups can be among the most imbued with such qualities and, God knows, a blog-based in-group, being by definition atomised, is pretty damned invisible.

Still, I have one of our thoroughly atomised MR bloggers to thank for the kind and thoughtful gift of a subscription to Chronicles Magazine, the first copy of which – dated February 2005 – landed on the doormat this morning.

It took me a good two minutes to sniff my way to page 34 and a piece under the Principalities & Powers header by Sam Francis, “Towards the Hard Right”.

Kwote ov tha dey

Posted by Guessedworker on Sunday, 13 February 2005 19:51.

We at Memorial-Spaulding are committed to the creation of a fully inclusive school in which each and every child succeeds and each is challenged. We believe we have the opportunity to create, in Claude Steele’s words, a “wise school,” a school that is rigorous and satisfying for all of our children and for all of us. We continue to work as our children’s village of support to create a school in which all of the adults - parents and teachers, secretary and principal, custodian and nurse, crossing guard and lunch mother, aide and psychologist - genuinely believe in all of our children, and actively work to see that “smart” comes in many shapes and forms, and resides within each and every human being. We know that the context for optimal learning is a school which has passion for children and for democracy, an intolerance for racism and for prejudice, a commitment to the creation of an anti-racist, prejudice-free learning environment, and a genuine desire to turn the concept of “just society” into reality. We hope to be that school.

Making a move on OMOV

Posted by Guessedworker on Sunday, 13 February 2005 16:40.

The original meaning of the word ‘liberty’ does not suggest at all ‘liberation’ - in a sense of emancipation from collectivity.  Instead, it implies inheritance - which alone confers liberty.

Alain de Benoist, Democracy Revisited: The Ancients and the Moderns

We are not free men.  How can we be?  We do not have the freedom to own our natures, the most near and ineradicable of all our inheritances.  Indeed freedom exists, we are told, only to the extent that we white, heterosexual males disdain this inheritance and take to ourselves something fictitious … something from which our oppressive whiteness, heterosexuality and maleness have been assiduously expunged.

Well, notwithstanding the sheer, bloody racism of this demand, its central postulate of an absolute psychological plasticity under the general-ship of reason would undo our psychological health in very short order.  Crude artifice, self-deception and the perpetual battle against Nature would generate only galloping individual and societal psychopathies.
